To capture detail in both the brightest highlights and the deepest shadows in a photograph can be very difficult and is a challenge which regularly frustrates photographers. Beeston Camera Club’s latest visiting speaker, Alan Woolhouse, was able to demonstrate a technique known as HDR (High Dynamic Range) whereby multiple exposures are merged by specialist software to produce a picture which includes all of the detail present in the original scene. Whether the resulting photograph is appealing is subjective – Alan describes the effect as being similar to Marmite – you either love it or hate it!
The club’s new website at www.beestoncameraclub.co.uk includes details of the club’s Thursday evening meetings as well as the current season’s programme.
